The Shea Trade

I'm all for trading away Mr. Hillenbrand for pitching, which is an obvious need. But, Mr. Deer In The Headlights? We couldn't do better than Byung-Hyun Kim?? Sure, the dude's got skills but he has shown he can't handle the pressure of a big game. Anyone who saw the 2001 World Series knows what I'm talking about - how can you forget his absolute meltdown? The series never should have went to 7 games but Kim single-handedly allowed it to by giving up back-to-back game-winning home runs at Yankee Stadium. Most thought he'd never be the same (me included) but give him credit for coming back with a strong 2002. Now, let's see what he can do in Boston. As always, it's hard to say how this trade will end up. But based on first impressions? Thumbs down, Theo. Although, a thumbs up to you for trying to make the team better. I can never dislike that. And, Shea, you'll be missed in Boston. You played hard and with heart. Best of all, you were clutch. Kim has a lot to live up to in that respect. Can't wait until the first time we say, "Why can't we get players like that?" after you hit a big homer in some big game. One thing though, Shea, you're no Jeff Bagwell - so don't compare yourself to him!

Go Sox!
